The end of the year is near and while we look back on another eventful year, we would like to look forward and take the opportunity to introduce ourselves to you as the new operators of the hotel Chateau de Montcaud.

Who we are

We are Andrea and Rolf Bertschi, keen travellers of the world, holding our Swiss home close to our hearts. After several years spent living in exciting corners of this world we are happy to have found a new place to call home, and to settle down in with our two young children – the beautiful South of France. As travel partners we have developed a common sense of style combining comfort and sleek elegance, we hold high culinary standards, and appreciate implicit service-orientation; in addition, we share an inherent love for the beauty and stillness of nature, as well as our common heritage and culture.

Living the Dream

As a couple we are born and bred hoteliers; Rolf’s heart and soul lie in hotels, hitherto exerting his dedication and passion working for global hotel management companies. Andrea was born into a restaurateur family, and has always shared Rolf’s dream of running one’s own place. Under the palm trees in Thailand, in Hong Kong’s concrete jungle or the sandpit of Dubai, we painted a mental picture of the perfect hotel resort which would combine luxury and simplicity in service, comfort and nature.

Expecting the Unexpected

Having been employed by large companies, we have long learnt that things rarely turn out the way they were planned, teaching us to stay flexible and be able to react to quick changes. Nearly two years ago we were at another crossroad in our lives, and while we were contemplating our next move the offer came up to take over the exciting renovation and future operation of the Chateau de Montcaud in the South of France – an offer so unique we couldn‘t resist it of course.

In Anticipation of the Big Day

The reopening of the hotel is rapidly approaching, and we are looking forward to welcoming you at the Chateau de Montcaud as of summer 2018. Many of you already know the historic chateau, its stunning park and the beautiful area between the Provence, the Cevennes and the Ardeche; we would love to hear your stories! First-time visitors to this magical place will hopefully have no trouble making their own memorable experiences.
