There's something special about the first days of May at the Château de Montcaud. The grounds are fragrant with honeysuckle and freshly-cut grass. The deck chairs have returned to their places under the shade of the ancient trees. The swimming pool shimmers gently in the morning light. And in the restaurant kitchens, the freshest seasonal produce is waiting to be worked on.

May is here, along with that special Montcaud atmosphere that can't be found anywhere else.
There are places that have a way of bringing time to a standstill. Château de Montcaud’s park is one of them. In May, the estate’s five hectares achieve a rare sense of balance - neither the exuberance of summer nor the reserve of winter. Just that southern light, that particular mildness of mid-season, and the feeling that the day ahead is entirely yours. It is perhaps the time of year when the park requires the least effort to enjoy and is savoured the most.
In addition to Le Bistro, the gourmet restaurant Le Cèdre de Montcaud has reopened, and as with every year, the cuisine focuses on the very best that the season has to offer. Asparagus, peas, local strawberries, fresh herbs from the garden - spring in the Gard region is exceptionally bountiful. And our culinary team knows exactly how to make the most of it.
In May, the Bistro's terrace becomes the place where people happily linger, enjoying a lunch that stretches into the sweetness of a gentle afternoon.
The start of a new season is also an opportunity to (re)discover what the Château has to offer to those who know how to slow down. A book by the pool. A stroll through the vineyards. An aperitif that lingers until sunset. Nothing spectacular, and that's precisely the luxury of simplicity.
For those who prefer to be active, the region is buzzing with springtime energy: markets are reopening, villages are coming alive and the garrigue trails are fragrant with thyme and wild lavender. Our team is here to help you tailor your stay to your mood – whether you're looking for activity or contemplation, both work beautifully here.
The first few weeks of the season always have something special about them – a lightness, a sense of space, a feeling of having the Château almost entirely to yourself. It's often during this time that our most loyal guests choose to return. And we understand why.
If you're thinking about a getaway this spring, now is the perfect time to plan it. Those beautiful May weekends are as fleeting as asparagus: they don't linger!
We’re here, and the Château is ready. All that's missing is you.
