The Luxury of Simplicity

The world has become a restless place lately, affecting also the general concept of luxury. Nowadays, luxury means having time for friends and family, creating unforgettable shared experiences and memories – and finding the places to do so. Unsurprisingly, there is growing interest an exclusive rental of Château de Montcaud for two to three days, to celebrate birthdays, and weddings, or organise corporate events. And as ever, the luxury of simplicity is our claim: we will take care of things for you.

An exclusive invitation

Recently, for example, a group of friends from Switzerland, Germany and France rented our château to celebrate a journalist’s 40th birthday. We were delighted to see the joy in the guests’ eyes. Once everyone had checked in and moved into their rooms in the early afternoon, they headed straight to the pool. Swimming, sunbathing, first conversations at the water’s edge – a scene fit for a film. The perfect summer setting. Others strolled through our shady forest park while the children frolicked on the lawn, played badminton or smelled the large rose blossoms with curiosity.

Perfect welcome

A welcome cocktail was served under the plane trees in front of our Bistro at 7 p.m. – our events coordinator Bertille Saudrais-Petit had organised a small string orchestra, four artists who provided the musical accompaniment to the barbecue and buffet. Chef Matthieu Hervé‘s delicious starters were served in advance at the round tables. At Château de Montcaud, guests at private parties and corporate events always have a choice: from barbecues to buffets, from gourmet dining to all-day snacks.

Something for everyone

After a leisurely breakfast the next morning, some of the guests travelled to Uzès, strolled through the market and visited the town, while others, six of them to be exact, played a small tournament on our tennis court. We served a late lunch by the pool; meeting point: ‘Chez Eugène’, our food truck. And as the sun slowly set in the distance, a quiet clacking sound could be heard in the stillness of the park – some of the guests were playing pétanque. And that’s exactly what makes our place so special for visitors: you can do everything or nothing at all. If you want to do sport, you will enjoy your stay just as much as someone more interested in culture or art. Others, may simply want to relax.

The wedding of your dreams

Many couples have scouted out our little oasis and its picturesque château as an exclusive location for weddings: the ceremony could take place in the late afternoon under the large cedar tree right next to the grotto – followed by a cocktail reception and a gourmet dinner out of Matthieu Hervé’s Michelin-starred kitchen. Every occasion will find its most beautiful setting, and, if privatised, the estate can be used as desired. For the most recent wedding ceremony, Bertille brought in a DJ from Paris, who entertained the guests late into the night with casual, light beats. At 1 a.m., we served a midnight snack. The otherwise quiet venue remained animated until the early hours of the morning, as the noise level is also as desired when privatised.

Endless possibilities

Corporate groups also often come to the château, companies offering their employees unforgettable team-building or seminar experiences. Or inviting their most loyal clients: for example, cars or other brands can perfectly be presented in the park, under the large trees or at our grotto. Speaking of cars, it is no longer a secret that Montcaud is also an ideal pit-stop for a rally: a secure car park for the collectors’ items, and exclusive catering for the participants. In contrast to northern climes, the weather here in the south of France still plays along wonderfully in late summer and autumn. That too, is pure luxury!
